Kristy's Thursday Thought

On Thursday I found it interesting and slightly disturbing that our tour guide gave me a heart to hold and then proceeded to tell me it once was a real pigs heart. I don't know how they turned it into plastic, but after hearing it was real it didn't really feel like plastic anymore. It was a cool representation for learning purposes, I just wish I didn't have to know that fact.

  1. 99% plastic, there was still some real bits. Where? I don't know. But the fact you did not drop and or throw it means you did a better job than I would have. Though being able to learn from such an object I would imagine would be near inexpensible. It is a long way from us imagining that hearts are no longer shaped like the ones we drew on valentines.

  2. I found it intersting that despite the fact that the heart was ~99% plastic, you could still differntiate the differnt types of tissue, such as the valves from the cardiac muscle, very easily.
